How to give or take a simple Warm Water Enema.

Enemas are very beneficial for your intestinal health.

Taking or giving an enema is simple to do.

  1. You will need a fountain syringe or something for administering the enema.
    ( You can sometimes find enema equipment the drugstore, or even some supermarkets. This is where we get ours.

  2. A warm comfortable place to lay down to receive your enema. positions in which to receive your enema.
    Fill syringe with warm filtered water (103°Fahrenheit.)
    Hang the fountain syringe 12 to 18 inches above rectum. Open clamp and allow air to escape tubing before inserting nozzle into the anus. You need to lubricate the nozzle with (Super Salve  Surgilube  Vaseline 13oz.     Astroglide  KY Warming Liquid Lubricant) or any suitable lubricant this makes insertion of the nozzle easier and more comfortable
  3. Lay down and insert nozzle and open hose clamp. Allow water to  fill the colon, If you feel full or begin to cramp stop or slow water for a little bit, when the feeling subsides begin flow again. Try to take the entire bag, stopping and starting the water flow as needed. After you have taken the whole bag.

    Massage:
    When receiving the enema:
    Massage abdomen in a counter-clockwise direction this will help move the solution higher into the colon.

    Massaging the abdomen during the administration of an enema will help the recipient except more of the enema solution.

    Hold the enema for a few minutes to allow the enema to work.
    (5  minutes is usually sufficient for a good cleansing.)

  4. When you are ready move to the toilet and release the enema.

    When expelling the enema:
    Massage abdomen in a clockwise direction this will help move the solution back toward the rectum and anus.

    Massaging the abdomen while expelling the enema helps move the solution and feces toward the rectum and out the anus.
     
  5. After you have finished releasing your enema remember to clean your enema equipment with soap and water and hang enema bag and tubing up so they can air dry.
     

Warning: Do not use enemas or laxatives if abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting are present unless directed by your health care provider.
Rectal bleeding or failure to have a bowel movement after use of a laxative or enema may indicate a serious condition.
Discontinue use and consult your health care provider.
