Safety Net

If you are going to meet somebody in person that you met on the Internet you need to make sure that it is safe!
Here are a few simple things that will help you.
  1. Let somebody know the address you will be at and the approximate time of your return home.
  2. If possible let them know the phone number you will be at.
  3. On your first meeting make sure to make it in a public place.
  4. If anything seems wrong for any reason leave. Better to be safe than sorry.
  5. Carry your own cellphone possible.
  6. Always have your own transportation.
  7. Commonsense

If you follow these guidelines you will give yourself the best chance of not ending up in a real bad situation!

This is no guarantee that you will be safe but it will help.
The Internet can be fun but it can be unsafe as well so use common sense when meeting somebody you have met on the Internet, whether it is through e-mail or a chat room or forums, or however.
